Exception: DOMAIN_COPYIN_FAILED

Hello all,

Whenever I attempt to create a bin, or save any bin, I am receiving the error message:

Exception: DOMAIN_COPYIN_FAILED

When I click More, the message changes to:

Exception: DOMAIN_COPYIN_FAILED
Exception: vcGetReferenceLevelsAndColorRange() - Unhandled component width. 8.9.4.47330.0

I'm getting this error no matter what Avid Project I run. Initially I launched with the existing project I have received from a production (I'm matching their MC 8.9.4 which they used to create the project), running off an external drive. But then when I created a new project locally on my machine, that project also gives the same errors. I have read and write permissions set to the external drives when I look at their Get Info. There was an asterisk in the external drive folder pathway, and I removed that in case a strange character might prompt this. The problem persists.

In order to match an existing project, I'm running MC 8.9.4 on a new Macbook Pro running Mac OS Mojave 10.14.6. Previously I had installed MC 2019.8, and had no discernible issues creating or saving a bin. I uninstalled that version as thoroughly as possible before installing 8.9.4.

Since encountering the problem I've tried deleting, in the Users > Shared pathway, the MCState, .ave, and settings files, as well as the Applications > Avid Media Composer > Settings location versions of the MCState, Site Attributes and Site Settings files as well, to make sure none of these being corrupt was the issue. The three Users level version of the files regenerated, and the Applications folder version has only regenerated Site_Attributes and not Site Settings or MCState. The error appears all the same.

Any help anyone could project would be enormously helpful. Thank you in advance.

Title Tool won't save

Hi there

Editing away when all of a sudden any title I create and go to save.. goes nowhere. Title tool just sits there. Nothing in my bin. The one time I did manage to create a new title tonioght, as soon as I opened it, the media was offline.

Any solutions to this please?

How do I motion track text using NewBlue Titler Pro

I am working on an 8K project, and had to install NewBlue Titler Pro (as title tool currently is not working in 8K). I have added a text message-text to the screen, and I want the text to track to the motion of the cell phone:

I have tried:

* To find a tracking tool in NewBlue Titler Pro

* To add effects (resize/3D warp) in Avid to the Titler Pro-title

* Google/youtube/avid forum search

Any suggestions would be very much appreciated. This is also my first post in the forum, and I hope have posted in the right thread.

AMT3 - ChainManager not responding

Dear Avid AMT3 Dev Team,

I have a problem that you probably can resolve. When ChainManager is running with a ISampleBasedPushInputAsset as source, I create a second task to call the IMPSink::write(MPBufferHolder buffer) function on each frame.

On error exception the ChainManager does not respond to the IMPSink::write(MPBufferHolder buffer) function and blocks the second task. Is it possible to respond to the write function task before raising the exception ? 

Last point, it should be nice if the return value of the write function could be a clear error status ?

MC 2018.2 and AJA Kona 3G issues

I am doing testing on MC 2018.2 on Mac 3.1 running 10.11.6 and the latest AJA driver 14.0.1 for the KONA 3G IO card.  This is a new install of OS, Avid and AJA.  New user on Avid.

I am running into some issues.  Before I bring these up with AJA I wanted to see if any others are having these issues.

1.Releasing the hardware IO only work intermittently and at some point stops altogeather.

2.When audio scrub is enabled, advancing frame by frame does not update on the broadcast monitor, only the computer monitor.  Turn audio scrub off and advancing frame by frame works as expected.

Deactivation in app manager failed

MC 8.44

I am running MC on my laptop, activated it online there.

Now I want to switch to desktop. But on desktop app manager shows MC already as activated and it is not possible to deactivate: Error: deactivation failed.

How do I manage now to activate on desktop?

Because I am in the middle of a project, I dont want to deactivate on the laptop, before I know I can safely switch back and forth between laptop and desktop.  If I cant deactivate on desktop, because of the error, I cant switch back to laptop.

What do I need to do?

Early AAF creation in AMT3

Hello,

As for now, we retrieve the AAF file created by AMT3 at the end of the generation of our MXF targets. Two questions:

1) Can we configure the AMT3 to create this AAF file sooner (i.e. at the beginning of target creation)? The goal here is to manage EWC (edit while capture) workflows.

2) How to retrieve the AAF content? Previously in AMT2, there was a handy function GetUpdatedAaf, which could be called anytime. Is there any equivalent in AMT3?

Media Composer don´t maximize anymore!

Hello everybody,

i have a little problem since the MC 2019 update.

Everything is working well till i minimize the application, than it´s impossible to maximize it anymore.

It will remains in the dock and i´m unable to maximize it again.

I have to quit and restart MC.

I have the 2019.8 update and NVIDIA 431.86 Studio Driver on it.

What could be the problem?

 

Does anyone have the same problem?

I imported some images that were shot in portrait mode but comes into the project landscape. How can I correct this or how do I rotate them back to portriat.?

Drag-and-Drop Delay in MC 2018.12.7 on Windows

I am experiencing a delay dragging between interface windows in Media Composer 2018.12.7 on Windows 7 and 10.

The "pointing finger" drag cursor doesn't turn into the "arrow with a plus sign" drop cursor for several seconds, and only after one wiggles the mouse. Otherwise, you cannot drop the item while the cursor is still the "pointing finger."

This happens when dragging items between bins, when dragging bins into folders in the project window, and when dragging clips to/from the composer window.

Creating a new user setting initially solved this. I had created new users on multiple machines, and the bad behavior eventually creeped-back to multiple machines.

I figured out that this would start happening after Exporting. I had recently started using the Avid Media Processor regularly.

I just discovered that in a brand new user setting, I can cause this behavior by changing the untitled default Export setting use the Avid Media Processor, and performing an Export.

When the Avid Media Processor is the selected Export method, I get the cursor-change delay when dragging between windows. When I switch the active Export setting to QuickTime, there is no delay dragging-and-dropping items between bins or the composer monitor.

I have not yet determined if I can keep Avid Media Processor export settings stored in user settings, and just keep them inactive when I do not need them.

Tabbing between Bins in the "superbin"?

Hello everyone,

Is there a way of "tabbing" between bins in a superbin? If I have three (or more) bins open, is there a way to "tab" between the bins without having to use the mouse to click on the bin name?

After using and playing with the new interface...it really is a great improvment and makes MC even work well on laptops with smaller real estate.

It didn't take long to learn it and the result is very intutitive.

Dark areas behind waveforms/audio clips and cuts where there are none

I am getting reports from 5 editors working on two shows, different systems, on local, and shared storage about this strange issue.

There are dark "selects" I'll call them on audio clips. Zooming in and out will temporarily remove them, but occasionally it will look like there is a cut depending on how close the timeline is zoomed in. 

The audio files were imported into AVID on a PC initially, when this issue surfaced we moved the workflow to Mac but it was creating the same issue. Both systems are running 2018.12.6 Ultimate. So far only the assistant ediotrs computer is free of this issue... for now :) 

One of the editors informed me they've seen this before in other facilities and they've just ignored it as it seemed harmless. 

Any ideas as to what may be causing this?

2019.8 New Bin Columns Order

Why do new bins get created with columns showing in this format:

Audio SR.  Creation Date.  Duration.  Drive.  IN-OUT.  Mark IN   Mark OUT.  Name.  Tracks....

I don't recall how they were laid out before this version, but Name was always on the left.  I don't have any bin view like this.

Audio plug-in list sorting order

Small feature request for Media Composer: would love to have audio plug-ins sorted by channel/surround type (mono/stereo/5.1) in the plug-in list. Currently it is sorted by type of plug-in (dynamics, EQ, sound field, etc) with options for mono and stereo/surround clumped together which makes the list more challenging to navigate (especially considering sometimes the mono variant is listed first and other times the stereo or surround one is).

99% of the time I want the stereo or surround version on it's corresponding track; ideally those would be listed first ahead of the mono versions and I'd even go so far as to say a preference option to hide the mono plug-ins on multi-channel tracks would be appreciated (either through a preference pane or even a command in console would probably suffice).

Playback Speed increase bug?

I just upgraded to media composer 2019.9 release and I can no longer play clips faster by repeadedly pressing the L key. Is this a bug or a setting that's been turned off?
