I really want to be able to map certain frequently used effects to the keyboard. Stuff like 3d warp/resize, flip/flop, paint effect, matte key and timewarp maybe. The effect could simply apply to the clip at the current playhead position on the active track. Easy.
In combination with the feature to automatically open effects editor when applying an effect this would be amazing.
I have just updated MC to v8.9.4 and have found that both the source and record screens in the composer display are blank. Rebooting can then display source monitor but not record monitor image. Rebooting again can display both. Rebooting and starting the computer then opening MC shows both screens blank again. A pop up monitor shows a green screen. When the source screen works I add the 'cut' from the reoord screen and it plays perfectly.
I am using a DELL lap top Inspiron 15 series 5000 computer that is running the latest version of Windows 10. The previous version of MC v8.9.3 worked perfectly on this computer.
I have been editing on MC since 1991 and have not met this problem before.
Any help or adice please.
Not sure what the issue was with mixed monitors in earlier versions as I had mixed an HD res 24" with a 4K LG 34" and had been able to drag the app across both monitors and then resize the composer and timeline windows in the LG to my liking. Both monitorsd at 100% scaling in Windows 10 and I can read everything fine anyway. In 8.9.4 the app fills both monitors as before, but I can't alter the size of the composer window any more. It's too small now. Anyone know a workaround?
Now that the new iMac Pro has been announced for the 14th, I wonder if
I published a 22 min. video to a local drive - I verified that Video + Audio was selected under the options ( the default settings were all correct so I made no changes).
After about 90 min. I got a beautiful video... with no sound!
Any ideas?
I'm working with an international client.
A client sent me a drive with original media. I've been working on that external drive all the way through fine cut.
For various reasons, I'm needing to send that original drive back to them with the Fine cut and the original media to them today.
However tomorrow I'm needing to do some final notes to create a locked cut. So I've consolidated the project onto my homebase drives and I'm now working on that.
My question is if there is any way for me to just send them the new sequence in a bin, and for them to be able to make that new sequence work on the same project on the drive I"ve sent back to them?

Hi, I've got a strange issue on MC 8.9.3 running on Mac Pro 8 core 3 GHz (dual AMD D700).
All the source clips look squeezed. Ones that are already on the timeline look ok.
We started that project on a different machine on MC 8.8.5, then just plugged the hard drive here. I noticed that changes to Resize panel in Source settings won't apply. Also it looks that different clips are squeezed in random proportions,
Any ideas? GPU issue?

I'm having trouble getting my Avid project back online. All my media is in the Avid Mediafiles folder, however every clip is offline and unable to relink to any media. I've tried some of the following fixes below with no luck.

Just recently, only after updating to MC 8.8.5 and 8.9, I am repeatedly (every 60 seconds) getting the spinning ball for about 30 seconds, making editing almost impossible.
I have a second instance of MC 8.9 running on a separate harddisk/system on my machine which I built from scratch early this year and there everything is running flawlessly. Also launching the application is much faster than on my main system, where the process of initializing AVXHost seems to take ages.
Activity monitor and Konsole are giving me alerts of Avid0pFrameGeneratorApp and QuickTime_OPServer not reacting but I don't know if this connected to the issue.
Maybe because Media Composer did went through a lot of upgrading on my main system, beginning with MC 6.5, it is somehow cluttered? How would you clean it up?

I have an iMac OS X Yosemite version 10.10.1, 3.4 GHz intel Core I5, 8GB 1600 MHz DDR3.
I am currently shooting with a Sony a6500 in 4K. I have the latest version of avid PLUS the Nablet XAVC S Plug-in that can link and transcode sony 4k footage. everything has been fine so far, except as I start editing things get choppy then avid consistently crashes on me. Please don't tell me I have spent all this time and money on Avid and the camera for nothing. Do I just need a faster computer? Or processor? if that's the case I'm fine with that. I just want Avid to stop crashing while I work on 4K footage.
BTW it doesn't do it if I'm working on regular HD projects or 4K footage from my drone.

I am using media composer 5.5 and lately I have a problem that each time that I close the computer I find out that settings I did are eared and return to original setups.
Example one is in media creation settings that are set to a certain drive or example two is the names I named audio channels in the time line that are reversed back to the A1 A2 etc names .
Each time I start the program I have to re do the settings again.
Does anyone know what is the reason for that and what can be done to avoid it ?

I am in need of a tutorial that can give more detail than the manual ( I was reading btw pg 780-790) on how to use the 5.1 surround sound for mixing (not monitoring I do not have surround equip)
I have stems in a timeline
Track 1&2 dialogue
Track 3&4 narrator
Track 5&6 score/music
Track 7&8 design/sfx
My first question is before I import the audio tracks into Avid MC
Should I export the tracks/stems as mono or stereo since two tracks have the same information?
i.e. export track 1 and 2 at the same time as mono? or export as stereo and keep the two files
Once I am in Avid MC with all the stems
And I open the audio tool is there a tutorial that can show the next steps in the process of patching the audio to center, left, right channels?
I'm looking to upmix my stereo files to a pseudo 5.1 file to make a DCP. I can't listen to 5.1 but the person I'm sending the file to can.

A little bit lost in the new MC. Trying to erase a color correction on the timeline and can't remember how to do it.
Is there a way to view ALE files emailed to me on my iPhone? Preferably in columnular view so I can see the Tape column has the right Dara.
I need to import some MPG archive (Pathe) files into my timeline. In theory they should be MPEG2 files (although extension is MPG). Wierdly - they also currently look interlaced rather than progressive (and given it's old film imagine original should be progressive.)
I'm not currently able to import or link - what is my best work around? I've got Sorenson Squeeze.

It's probably my incompetence... but I'm really struggling with using New Blue Titler at all... So badly thtat I'm resorting to going back to doing titles in 1080 and importing them.
Can anyone recommend an idiots guide somewhere? All I want to do is make some simple rolling titles, but I'm finding it almost impossible to edit the text, then difficult to change anything on the timeline (as with normal Avid titles you could adjust the length on the timeline...) Worse still, with the rolling titles, they seem to be cutting out before the end ..
Weirdly, the 3d stuff works well, but I don't need that - just normal, basic titles that I can do quickly....
