I have run into this error when trying to quit out of MC and I was wondering if any one else has seen this?
This does not crash the system, and you can just click "OK" save your bins and force quit MC..
This happens randomly and it is hard to pin down what exactly is related to or to recreate the error on purpose..
This is a new setup with a cylindar macpro running 10.9.5 and MC 8.4.1 on ISIS 4.7.4

Getting weird error that is supposedly related to QT codecs...but this is suddenly happening well into a large project. That diagnosis does not seem to apply.

Only goes away if I turn off the timeline gears (unlink the Nitris box --- HW/SW active). Not helpful. Ten clients won't like crowding around a 3 inch composer window on my Mac screen. I own a Nitris box for a reason.
Also, my Application Manager crashes at startup and seems pretty unstable.
Not to keen on this latest update. Seems quite buggy.
Fully loaded Mac Pro 2012 Westere
A recent firmware update enabled certain Sony Cameras to record directly to quicktime. Unfortunately Sony encodes the audio in 32 bit Big Endian format which is not traditional for PCM audio in Quicktimes. Avid chokes on this when linking and crashes. The media can be imported.
Alternatively files can be encoded to new files with no loss as long as the same codec is chosen. Just select Little Endian and all problems go away.hi,
How can you move your Avid Media Composer 8.4.5 project and the media to a Premiere Pro CC 2015 project please? I can not figure out how to export everything I need to do this. Thank you

Been using MC 8.4.2 lately and upon startup my keyboard is NC English. I keep switching to MC English with the restore option but every time I leave and re-open MC, it's back to NC. It's very annoying because I have also custom keys on the MC keyboard that I must add each time. Any idea why this keeps happening and how I may solve it? Previously, this was never an issue with MC 7... Thanks
I am finding myself getting deeper into working with effects form small promo spots. I don't have a strong system and currently using a quadro 600. Hopefully I will be able to upgrade my whole desktop but at this moment I need advice on a graphic card. I would the gtx 970 be a better fit to handle the load of multiple effect stacking? I have someone who designs computer and he has this card available. Just need some thoughts from those who are more knowledgeable on the spec side.
I’m having problems installing (re-installing) Media Composer 7 with Symphony. I had previously Symphony 6.5 installed but the hard drive was wiped before deactivation. I sent an e-mail to Marianna Montague (a reply to a previous related conversation) but then realized that she might not be in charge of that department anymore. Can someone tell me who should I contact for issues with my “perpetual licenses” installations?. I also have an annual support contract.

I got a problem and i couldnt find anything in the web about it, looks like im the only one... So its maybe just a simple thing:
I bought an Avid Artist Mix and i connected it to my workstation as its written in the info. When i start MC everything is fine, it worked everthing but the faders for the audiolevel have a latency about 3 seconds. I can just used it with MC, i dont have Protools to test it. And the trial with the Dongle is a annoying and a expansive thing, just to test my new controller.
I updated the firmeware and the EUcontrol software. I used it with 2 different workstations. (MC7 and MC8).
One of my workstation has just a onboard soundcard. the other one is an avid qualified dell precision m4800 laptop.
What could be the problem. Is it a simple setting in MC? Is it a hardware issue? Is it normal in MC to have that latency?

Review their actions with the Activity History log.

On Mac OS X: /Library/Caches/Avid/AppMan/Db/
Workaround: To create a database, do the following:
Quit Avid Application Manager Helper. Delete the appmanager.db folder. Relaunch Avid Application Manager Helper.

Im running AMC 8.4.0 on an Apple pro desktop (mid 2010) with a 2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon processor, 10gb of memory and an ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024 MB graphics card. I created a new project which matched the 1920 X 1080 24p footage to digitize. Avid recognized my camera, as I was able to control my camera through the digitize tool. When trying to digitize media shot in 24p from a cannon XHA1 HD camcorder , I get the following error messages
"Digitize window: "Activate devices start passthrough failed with ePSisStarting"
"PMDIOVideoFifiStream- setup sizes are incorrect-m_videoPageSize: 512,m_VideoBlockSize:512,m_videoFrameSize: 0"

We have here at Chimney went trough the recommended list about all the different computer configuration but it's hard to know which way to go...
What experiences do you have? If we want a computer for the assistant editor who is importing/exporting a lot, which Mac or Win system should we go for? And how about offline editing? And for online editing, where the editor working a lot with sequences which are around 45 minutes long and a huge amount of clips and tracks..?
Becuase we still just working with ordinary HD material and at the most working with AVC HD Intra 100, it doesn't seems like a good idea to go for the really high-end computers.
Any help and experiences would be helpful!

I don't succeed to execute any sample of the TMAutoAPI.
I tried something very simple, just to get the version of the client and the one of the server.

The functions return empty strVer.
In order to try it I execute the exe file directly from the Interplay Transfer server with a TMClient.ini file located just near the the exe file and containing:
[MyServer,MyWorkgroup]
MyServer=192.168.2.2,worspace
This IP address is the address of the server and worspace the name of a created worspace into interplay.
Is there something wrong ?
Maybe the TMClient.ini is not well filled ? To what correspond the MyWorkgroup ?
Then when trying to init the API with:
status = host->Initialize(&api);
It answers:
Error -191 (TMAAPI Error) Transfer library not loaded

Hi,
I'm gonna be working with some DNXHD and Prores media originating from an Atmos Shogun recorder. However, when I casually mentionned that the footage was gonna be edited on a PC avid system, I've ben told that it was a terrible idea, since Prores is only supported on Avid via Quictime, which is still running on PC as a 32 bit server.
SO, I've been told, my Prores footage is gonna be terribly slow, if imported and kept as such (ie:not transcoded).
SO first question, since I know that Avid have their own QT codecs which now allow fast importing of Prores ffotage directly into MC, do these codecs still use the QT 32 bit server?
Or do they somehiow bypass the QT server and are supported directly in the application (even without quicktime installed)
Second question: since my other kind of media is gonna be DNXHD wrapped into a MOV container (thus needing QT to play), will I encounter the same limitations. Same questions as before apply.
All in one, if all my editing is gonna be DNXHD and Prores based, am I better off editing on a Mac where the X63 version of the QT server is supported? (and as a bonus I can encode Prores straight from Avid, which is not supported on windows).

Recently, I had to get a new hard drive for my iMac because it crashed!
I just got it back and am putting software back on!
I downloaded Media composer again and after creating a profile and new project, I get the following response:
"Exception: A serious error has occured! It is recommended that you immediately save your work and restart the system"
I restart my computer and it happens again!
Any ideas on what I can do!
I have canon c100 footage shot at 30 pf and when I try to import it into avid MC project set up as 30P Iget an error saying the media does not match my project settings and it will not import. It imports fine into a project set up as interlaced but that's not what I need. Suggestions?

I just renewed my perpetual license before it expires by the end of the year but it won't update in my account in my Application manager. It kept popping up that my support plan is about to expired. I already paid with my credit card last week. I also checked in my master account it said that Time Period:Dec 30, 2014- to -Dec 29, 2016 but how come it won't update in my Application Manger? Have I missing something? Any help would be appreciated.

Just throwing this outthere. Does anyone use their Z820 crate (or newer Z generation) in UEFI mode with Avid?
Just wondered if there is performance to gain (not to mention boot times) and how stable Avid is on it.
All the Mac systems have used this for years and benefit greatly from faster boot times as fewer slow option ROMs need to be loaded pre-OS.
I wonder if Avid will officially support UEFI on PC's at some point....
I'm a relatively new Avid user, but according to everything I've been reading online, this SHOULD be the easiest thing in the world. I'm trying to link to some SD Quicktime .MOV files that were originally digitzed on a FCP7 system. When I select FILE --> LINK TO MEDIA and then navigate to my files, I get the message "Unable to link to file or volume."
Even though Quicktime plug-in is supposed to be automatically installed, I checked AMA_LISTPLUGINS in the Console tool and, sure enough, version 1.4.0.8250 of the QT plug-in was installed.
So I'm stuck. All the documentation and posts I've found indicate this should be an easy process.
I'm using MC 8.4.0 on a MBP running OS X El Capitan. Many thanks in advance for any help.
