Whenever I open avid i get the InItBinindexDone: Get Result () Failed. pop up, although so far everything seems to work ok im just curious what it means and if it will impact my use of avid in the future.
I'm also curious if anybody knows anything I can do to fix it, thanks
When I was using v11 of Resolve, I used to export my graded timeline as MXF (single clip) and then place that file in the famous AvidMediafiles folder, boot the Media Composer, let it scan, open the media tool etc etc. You know the drill.
But yesterday was different. I was working on V12 for the first time and noticed a change in the naming. What used to be MXF is now MXF OP ATOM. Fine, I exported MXF OP ATOM, gave the file to the editor and told him to place it in the AvidMediafiles folder, but Avid started giving a lot of errors and it didn't work. It even corrupted other databases. Now the only thing I could think of that was different from what I do on my own setup is that they were using Avid Unity. So, I'm I correct in understanding that the MXF OP ATOM files cannot be placed in the AvidMediafiles folder and scanned/read by the MC?
Next thing I tried was to export an MXF Op1A from Resolve (DNxHD 1080i 120) and I tried to import that in the MC but Avid couldn't read the file. Why? I know Avid can output MXF Op1a files that Resolve can read with out any problems.
Despite bin settings at save every 8 mins and force auto sace at 17....I just lost 4 hours of work. Last attic save was same time as bin save. I had a few bins open, closed one or two of them, and got a segmentation fault. May be the first time that has ever happened to me on an Avid. In fact one of my first crashes with MC6 in the last 2 weeks on this new rental setup. Ugh.... now back to re-creating.

Seems a lot of posts asking for this and i never really thought about it but today i have really wanted this feature. How hard can it be?
I want Avid to open a bin with the custom bin view of my choosing, every time I open it. Simple.
Appologies if this has been fixed, I'm still on 4.0.5 but i couldn't find any posts confirming a change so I'm gonna go ahead and ask for it again.

I feel like the print function in Media Composer has historically been an iffy proposition with eras when it would work and eras when it wouldn't. Yesterday I tried to print a bin and MC locked up and I had to force quit. I then chose to export the bin as a tab delimited file and print that and that was fine.
Today I tried to print my script and that has locked up the app twice. Am I asking MC to do something I oughtn't? Is there something wrong with my particular configuration? Is this a version issue? Is anyone else experiencing this?

I get this error about twice a week, forcing a complete system shutdown. Happens randomly during normal editing, nothing unusual. Anyone have any experience in preventing this error?

Hi all,
I have a problem with the subcap generator (again!) on our Avid 8.2.2.
We translate a documentary for editing and have a lot of material that needs to be subtitled. Since there are many dialogues, the translators wrote the text files using line breaks between the speaking persons. Now - when importing these txt. files into avid, the subtitles only show the first row of the text, before the line break. The second part of the dialogue has not been imported.
I tried to change the text files and deleted the line break between the dialogue persons. Now, the whole text appears in the subtitles. But - that looks extremely messy and we definitely want two speaking persons to be separated by a line break in the subcap. And it would be great, not to have to do the break manually in every single subcap-file, that would need hours...But, HOW is it possible to import files that contain one simple line break because of dialogue? This must be possible somehow, no??
I couldn't find anything about that on the Internet and we're really in a hurry to solve that problem.

PS: When there are more than two rows of subtitles, the playback starts to stumble terribly. I'm looking for a solution for this since almost a year now, but neither the avid support could help us on that. Tried downgrades and updates - still the same. Does anybody know, if there are some new solutions about that problem?
We've been working with a matte effect (holdout to show video underneath), and making the holdout grow, but it seems to be wreaking havoc - DS freezes and both the project & media indexer numbers plummet. We've tried different pieces of media (thinking perhaps the media was corrupt), but seem to have isolated the problem to the effect (we've put the effect on both a video clip and clip of generated black). We then close out of DS and re-index (1st dumping the server.ummds file). Has anyone else experienced this? It seems like we've done this effect before without any problem, so are trying to figure what may be the cause ... everything else seems to be working OK (as far as we can tell).

Yikes. Just saw this in the 8.0 Read Me:
Both PhraseFind and ScriptSync are dependent on underlying technology from a partner company that provides phonetic indexing and searching. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer these options for sale. If you own ScriptSync and/or PhraseFind, your license will continue to work with your current version of Media Composer (v5.5 - 7.0.x). Upgrading to Media Composer | Software v8 will cause ScriptSync and PhraseFind to no longer function.
This is seriously a deal breaker. Both of these tools are invaluable to my editing. Can someone please confirm that a solution to get these working in v8.x is forthcoming? I simply cannot upgrade without them.

Does Media Composer work (version 6.5 or 7.5) work with Apple OS El Capitan yet?
We are struggling with the Media Creation settings for all our ISIS based projects...
When a user initially creates a project we would really like to have the Media Creation firmly stuck to the project. We are experience that this Media Creation setting is going back to default option most of the times.
We have tried to determine why and when this is happening, change of user, going back and forth between project on the same computer with the same user etc, but have not found why Media Creation setting is going default.
I know that every editor should go through their and all the other settings before starting their work, but it would be such easier to just have some of this settings really stuck to the project.

I get this error. MonPane::SetComposition(): Internal error occurred trying to load composition into the monitor. See the console for more information.
The console basically just lists all the clips. The avid created mutligroup of the entire day plays and can be edited into a timeline no problem, but when I make subclips of the group to extract scenes they can't be opened in the source monitor or dragged and dropped into a timeline. Some subclips function fine, but others don't. Its two Sony FS7 cameras with additional field audio, nothing crazy. I'm on Avid 8.4.5 But the files were orginally grouped in 8.2.0 is this the cause of the problem. I saw people that got this error message with a slighly different problem, but have not seen any solutions.I've yet to use a version of MC that really makes use of the GPU. For example, something that's been mentioned a few times, AVCHD footage doesn't exactly playback smoothly and yet my CPUs or GPU are hardly being used.
Is it worth jumping from a Quadro 2000 to a Quadro K4000? Is there anything else that improves, that helps the editing, that makes the upgrade worth it? I am referring to MC8.4 here.
