AvidBinIndexer crashing on Quitting.

every time i quit th MC the AvidBinIndexer crashes,  i updatet to the last version, still happening.

what can i do???

Offset Motion Tracking when the object starts off camera

Hmm, almost said it all right there. I have a MEDIUM WIDE SHOT TILT UP from the street to a building. Along the top of the building, which is not visible in the begining of the shot, is a sign I need to blur out. I would like to use the Paint effect and Motion Tracking to do this. I know if the sign were in the frame at the begining of the shot and out of it at the end I could draw my blur area over the first frame and then set my Motion Tracker to some other point that will stay in for the duration. Is there a way to do the inverse and blur the last frame and somehow track backwards?

I've already thought of and chosen not to go with the following:

1. Put a -100% Motion Effect on the shot, apply the blur to what is now the first frame, run Motion Tracker, render, export, reimport as a new file.

2. Apply an Add Edit immediately before the sign comes on screen and start the blur just off screen where it's coming from.

Any other ideas though would be welcome.

MC 8.7.2 will not launch - error

When trying to launch MC, I receive the following error:

FatalExcpt Exception: std::exception, what:ACF call failed: createAndInitDFM(), error code 0xa0000068, file /Snapshots/relengmini1_1484281567/coresw/ame/src/CompressionMgr/CATWrapperConfig.cpp line 413 8.7.2.44855.0

The launch aborts after this.

Long time to load Multicam sequences on ISIS 5500

Hi everybody,

we’re experiencing very long waiting times to load 16-way multicam sequences (about 6min to load a 30min sequence).

Slowness happens only the first time we load the sequence, in fact if we switch to a different sequence and then go back to the previous one load time is very fast (30sec)

 

Just as example:

  • Load Seq-A (6min)
  • Load Seq-B (6min)
  • Load again Seq-A (30sec)

 

Performing a Clear Bin Memory will cause again the slowness:

  • Load Seq-A (6min)
  • Load Seq-B (6min)
  • Clear Bin Memory
  • Load again Seq-A (6min)

 

Load times are always good when ISIS workspaces are unmounted.

Any ideas or possible workaround?

Unable to Create an Ultra HD 59.94p Project with Blackmagic Desktop Video 10.7 or Above

Hello,

There is a known bug with Media Composer Version 8.6 to 8.7 - if you try to create an Ultra HD 59.94p project using Blackmagic Desktop Video 10.7 or above on a Windows machine, you will get an error message and the system becomes unstable and crash.  I wanted to find out if any other Avid users were experiencing the same problem.  The bug has been logged and I hope Avid fixes it soon.

Media Composer 8.8.0 import/select files and cmd-a

Hi Avid,

 

What is wrong with cmd-a to select all my (XDCAM) files in the import/media link screen?

Since 8.7 this is not working anymore and i have to use Shift or cmd to select more files.

Also a pain in the a** for a long time is that i always get the warning that i have to fill in my disc label. I 100% agree. But please give me the option to do that before selecting my files. 

 

And the last one, opening avid, my last project is automatic selected, but i cant just press enter anymore to continue. Now i have to grab my mouse and press ok. Why.....?

 

Why do you implement these changes? It makes our workflow slower than the last 10 year. And in my option, it makes no sence.

Read Audio TC: Option "User Bit Timecode" - Check or Uncheck?

I have footage with TC (coming from sync boxes) recorded onto the audio tracks.

Now I'm going to

>Menue >Special >Read Audio TC

 

In the new window I have the option to check User Bit Timecode.

I'm not sure what this is doing...?

copying MediaFiles from one computer to another

Good morning, I'm installing  a new workstation, a PC, for all my Avid and Adobe product applications.
I have 12 Tb of Mediafiles on Mac formatted disks, and want to copy all the footage to my PC internal drives.

What would be the recommeded way ?

1) copying from Mac to external PC drives and then recopying to the PC drives , I know double the pleasure

2) using the house network and drag and dropping, ( but this method seems to lose files ??

3) using a crossover ethernet cable and going peer-to-peer machine to machine.

 

any all ideas welcome. I know it'll take forever, I just would like it to be the shortest forever with guaranteed results

Exporting bin columns data

Hi

I need to find a way to export bin columns to be viewed outside Avid. I found a method through cmd + P and chosing PDF. The problem however is it takes so much pages. I imagine if it was done through excel (if that was possible) it would have been easier to be viewed.

I have a lot of columns with a lot of data in it so when I export it in pdf it goes broken through the pages so it's useless.

Help! Avid license expired with no Master account!

Hi! I really hope someone can help me with this, because I'm out of ideas.

I recently started AE work on a film that's been in production for a while, using Avid 8.4 on an Avid license that's connected to an old Master account. We have another editor, working on Avid 8.8, on a new license. So that we're both working on the same system, I downloaded Avid 8.8 using the new Master account to make sure everything worked. Bad idea.

To my utter horror, I can no longer open Avid. It tells me "This software was released past your contract expiration date. Please go to Avid Support Website for more details." When I go to Avid, however, and sign in using the new Master account, my System ID is not present, only the newly purchased one. When I try to add it, I get the bright red error, "System ID is invalid or already under an Upgrade & Support plan," which means there is a Master account, I just don't know what it is.

Even if I give up on 8.8 and try to download 8.4, I can see in the Avid Application Manager that I have a permanent MC license, device ID, system ID and activation ID, but I can't seem to redownload 8.4 without logging in, which I can't do because my employers have lost or forgotten the account that was used to purchase my Avid license.

I have a million things to do and I am completely locked out of my Avid. Is there anything I can do, short of tearing the office apart to find the Master account login?

Purple/Green Source/Record Monitors In YCbCr 709

I keep hoping a new Avid update will solve this problem, but I just upgraded to 8.8.4, and nothing has changed.  When I'm in YCbCr 709 color space, my source/record monitors go into a hideous purple/green look.  If I switch to RGB, everything looks fine, but I don't want to work in that.  I have a BlackMagic DeckLink Mini Monitor attached, which I think is when this all started.  But the monitor I have hooked up to it via HDMI looks fine in both color spaces.  Is there a setting within Avid that I need to change that I don't know about?

Copy/paste frame flex settings between clips in the timeline?

I'm using frame flex to punch in on a 4K interview to create a virtual CU. I can't seem to drag my closeup settings to a bin and apply them to other clips in the timeline. Am I missing something? Is there a way to copy/paste frame flex settings between clips?

How to maintain AMA links between Mac and PC

Hi all,
I am having trouble maintaining a workflow where AMA linked footage is being shared between Mac edit stations and the PC suite. The most basic problem I can see is that the PC has to designate a drive letter to network volume that is required. Could anyone help me maintain AMA links between Mac and PC?

The AMA footage is not on ISIS storage. It is on our raw media synology storage.

Multicam Idea?

Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone has a good workflow for Multicaming big shoots. We have Two Sony F5s running with 7 Go Pros and Drones running. So up to 10 streams at once with various TOD Codes. This happens over 60 Days with 12hour shoot times as its a travelling Road Trip. A section of day looks like below....

Now the only Multicam method that works is Aux Timecode, add edits and sync. Which is hugely time consuming. Collasping camera vision layers, adding P in P to each layer match frame and editing a new track is far faster, in the long run. Example below...

 

Now simply if we could multicam layers or sub masters, this would fix a huge workflow problem. Any reality tv program using multicam shoot must run into the same problems? Has anyone figuired a workflow?
