Does anyone know if the Column Heading "HashTags#" is a Avid Built In Heading or a Custom Heading User Created?
If it is Avid Built In Heading does it have any additional functionality within Avid?

I'm experiencing a strange and very annoying problem with dissolves in my timeline. Whenever a dissolve begins, a black bar appears along the right edge of the frame that proceeds to fade out over the course of the dissolve. I'm working in a 2K project (1998x1080 DCI Flat) with DNxHR 444 media.
Here are screenshots of before, during, and after that I posted on Facebook because I can't figure out how to post them here:
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10154412957977773&set=pcb.10155724033134460&type=3&theater
Curiously, the problem did not exist during the offline phase, when every clip was at 5K size in a 2K project and had a FrameFlex spatial adapter on it. Now in the online, with media rendered out from the colorist at native 1998x1080 size, the problem is introduced. But it also happens on two 4K (3996x2160) clips in the timeline.
Has anyone else experienced this?
Working on 8.6.3 on Yosemite 10.5.5
There used to be a setting in the "Settings" tab titled "Media Creation". Avid editors used to be able to go to this setting and pre-select the drive they wanted Titles, Renders, and Efx to go to.
Sadly, the Media Creation setting is no longer there.
But! I have good news! The exact same task can be accomplished by clicking on a blank setting at the top of the "Settings" tab. Why did avid chose to remove the name from this setting and have all these options live under a mysterious un-named blank setting tab? Was it an act of intentional disobediance to make life harder for Avid Editors? Or was it simply a mistake? Perhaps we will never know.
I am working in a UHD project, I have imported quick time movies with DNxHR 4:4:4 ... this is an online edit computer. Playback in timeline is stuttering and choppy at random times. There are NO blue, red or yellow lines on the timeline, nothing to indicate slow hard drives (I get over 1000MB/s on my fast RAID 5, and yes NO drive indexing on the RAID) and surely my system could not be wanting, I have dual 10 core zeons and 128GB RAM. With all this speed under the hood, stuttery playback is definitely not expected. Wondering if anyone out there can share any insight. Specifically, if there are no red or yellow lines in my timeline, then why is the playback sub-par?
Posted on DNXIO forum but no replies so trying here:
On the Avid page for the DNXIO it mentions '(HDMI) color precision with 3D LUT support'
http://www.avid.com/products/avid-artist-dnxio/specifications
Does this mean that the HARDWARE can take a 3D lut on the HDMI output?
Maybe I'm being silly but I can't find a way of getting UK pricing on the Avid store?
Hi
I have created a large Avid DS caption file for import via the subcap tool. The file was created by taking a transcript that a producer made in excel and then converting it to make the subcap file.
What's become clear is that the producer has made many, many mistakes when entering timecode values including entering timecode values which have start times before the previous entry. Often this is simply entering one wrong character but obviously when this is the case subcap just refuses to import anything.
Now I've been through the document a number of times and have corrected many of the mistakes I can find but I'm clearly still missing a lot of these mistakes and for a document this long it's a painfully slow process so what I'm wondering is, is there an application or "trick" anyone knows of that will allow me to check the validity of an Avid DS Caption file and highlight the problematic timecodes.
As always all help and any suggestions are welcome.
Best
G.
Hi Guru's, Hi Bob,
I know that the filegateway is only supported on 2008 (r2) server on an as-3000.
But I recently tried to set this up on a dell server that of course came with 2012 r2 server and find that the gateway correctly enters the shares inside windows but not even the administrator itself on the same machine can mount these through my network places.
Manually added shares work normal although the filegateway removes them. Firewall disabled.
Has anybody ever managed to get the filegateway to work on 2012 r2 server?
Thanks
Hello,
I am working at a project for quite a long time. I have an edited sequence of 1,5 hours. No problims until today. When I try to play the sequence I got the error: mpegmapperSegmented: CalcTemporalOffset: Did not find first temporal sample.
What can I do? I work with transcoded material, transcoded to dnxHD-185x.

Hey everyone.......
It's March 1st. That means you only have today, tomorrow and Friday to complete your ACA voting.
As Chris Bove puts it..... If you're a craft video editor, this round of voting is probably going to feel really, REALLY clunky. The voting process contains numerous surveys with oddly-worded questions; contradictions; multiple choice questions that only give partial answers, and even questions that may have nothing to do with your corner of the industry.
p.p1 {margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 14.0px Helvetica; color: #1d2129; -webkit-text-stroke: #1d2129} span.s1 {font-kerning: none} span.s2 {font-kerning: none; color: #355899; -webkit-text-stroke: 0px #355899}
Bear with it. You can totally vote on just the things that matter to you, and ignore things that don't. Don't own a NEXIS? Not thinking about VR yet? Never heard of the 3rd party partners being discussed? No worries. Just click "N/A" for things that are non-applicable, and for irrelevant survey questions, just don't click anything at all.

Or is this only available on v8?

I'm really stoked on this Nvideo 1080 Ti that's out today;
https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/products/10series/geforce-gtx-1080-ti/?ncid=em-ded-gc27-8716
$699... I thought they'd ask for more. I'd love to see what the newer versions of Avid can do on this.
Just out of curiosity, is there a way to tell MC to display the total time of all the footage in a project? Or even a bin? It's not like this is a big issue, but I'm just curious, and too lazy to dump all clips into a sequence.
Hey all,
I was wondering if someone could give me advice on linking DPX files to an EDL. This is new territory for me and I'm not quite sure I'm getting the materials I need delivered correctly.
I've been given an EDL which I open in avid. The sequence is created in a bin. I open the sequence and I can see the offline media in the video track with cuts made in the timeline.
I've got a DPX file I want to link to this sequence, but I cant figure out how to make this happen. Is there a simple solution to this or am I missing some major steps. Let me know if I need to provide anymore information.
Thanks!
So...every time I try and close one project and open another the software crashes.
Just FYI.
Hi All,
We just picked up a few Blackmagic Intensity Pro 4k units for our Mac Pro edity bays (10.9.5, MC 7.0.6) to replace some Matrox Mini M02's.
With single cam playback, all works as one would expect, however, if we switch to multicam(quad split) the client montors freeze out and so does the source/record window. Sometimes the source/record window will also display a BOB error.
Does anyone have any experience with this?
Thanks!
I have been experiencing an anomaly with the color correction tool ever since upgrading to 8.2 (but also had this problem in 7.0.4). Sometimes when you are in the CC tool the display fails to update when you are changing color correction settings. I find I notice it more when correcting on a rendered sequence, but it seems to happen sporadically on non rendered sequences as well. Often you can exit and enter the tool or turn the dual split on and off a couple of times to correct, but is anyone else having this same problem? It seems to be happening on both Mac and PC systems, both version 7 & 8.
Hey, guys. Whenever our editor opens a script file it immediately crashes him. Upon relaunching Avid and opening it works fine, so it seems to me that it's some weird bug in the combination of things that he may have open.
Wondering if anyone else has experienced this. In the meantime, our protocol is for him to close everything before opening a script going forward to see if that works.
