I have run into this error when trying to quit out of MC and I was wondering if any one else has seen this?
This does not crash the system, and you can just click "OK" save your bins and force quit MC..
This happens randomly and it is hard to pin down what exactly is related to or to recreate the error on purpose..
This is a new setup with a cylindar macpro running 10.9.5 and MC 8.4.1 on ISIS 4.7.4

BTW the "???" is exactly how the error reads, there is no file name
Is 8.4.5 ready for a big series?
I kind of need to upgrade from 8.3.1 to support ingest of Canon C300 Mark II and I like all systmes to match. I haven't seen to many rumblings? Is it stable for large offline heavy effect editing?

Don't usually use the (rather antiquated) title tool except for simple stuff (or placeholders for grfx to be imported) been running the latest version of MC7 since it came out, but only recently needed to create a handful of titles and was shocked by the :30 second lag from key-stroke to actual opening of the title tool window. Slow response normal for this version of MC? Any improvement in MC8? Or do I just have a clitchy install?

Both PhraseFind and ScriptSync are dependent on underlying technology from a partner company that provides phonetic indexing and searching. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer these options for sale. If you own ScriptSync and/or PhraseFind, your license will continue to work with your current version of Media Composer (v5.5 - 7.0.x). Upgrading to Media Composer | Software v8 will cause ScriptSync and PhraseFind to no longer function.
This is seriously a deal breaker. Both of these tools are invaluable to my editing. Can someone please confirm that a solution to get these working in v8.x is forthcoming? I simply cannot upgrade without them.

I'm editig a video which has to be screened on 2 or more screens but on the screens are not always the same images, so the story is being told on more as 1 screen. How they do it in the room(it's in a museum) is not my problem, my problem is how to get on my monitor say 4 ereas with each a different image.
the rough edit is maybe 2 hour so add a picture in picture effect on every clip I add is time consuming is there a other way to do this?
And there is differend audio for every screen I like to mute the audio of 3 video tracks and hear only the one I'm working on, 1 stereo track is easier instead of 2 mono tracks I think is there a simple way to make 2 mono tracks 1 stereo track?
I hope someone can help me with this I'm a story teller and not technical

I just received my DNxIO. After following the intall procedure, I conducted a very unscientific test to transcode an AMA'd clip into Avid's 1:1 10 bit. Subjectively, the transcode seemed to progress exceptionally quickly. i was pleasantly surprised. However, whe the transcode was completed, the clip was shown as "offline" despite the fact that I could play it back from the Avid MediaFile/MXF/1/file folder. After shutting MC 8.4.2 down and restarting, the file appeared as normal in the Bin. This would appear to be a bug.
edit: another post has identified this problem as resulting from writing to a drive formatted in a non-conventional way, like ex-FAT or HFS+ on a PC.
As a side note, after registering the hardware with Avid, it now appears in the AAM as "Artist", with a license expiration date one year from today. Does this imply that there will be an annual renewal of the DNxIO license; and a fee over and above the MC renewal fee?

I'm gonna be working with some DNXHD and Prores media originating from an Atmos Shogun recorder. However, when I casually mentionned that the footage was gonna be edited on a PC avid system, I've ben told that it was a terrible idea, since Prores is only supported on Avid via Quictime, which is still running on PC as a 32 bit server.
SO, I've been told, my Prores footage is gonna be terribly slow, if imported and kept as such (ie:not transcoded).
SO first question, since I know that Avid have their own QT codecs which now allow fast importing of Prores ffotage directly into MC, do these codecs still use the QT 32 bit server?
Or do they somehiow bypass the QT server and are supported directly in the application (even without quicktime installed)
Second question: since my other kind of media is gonna be DNXHD wrapped into a MOV container (thus needing QT to play), will I encounter the same limitations. Same questions as before apply.
All in one, if all my editing is gonna be DNXHD and Prores based, am I better off editing on a Mac where the X63 version of the QT server is supported? (and as a bonus I can encode Prores straight from Avid, which is not supported on windows).

I have been given a legacy project created 7 years ago in 1080i/50fps. The delivery requirement is Pro Res HQ 25 Fps.
I have opened the project bins in a new project which is 1080p 25fps and everything looks fine.
I then mixdown to Apple Pro Res MXF and again everything looks fine.
However when I export "same as source' the exported video has lines (as if interlaced)??
Can someone explain what I am doing wrong. I have made sure colour is legal throughout etc

I'm getting the attached debugger message when trying to import audio into Avid. It happens with both wave and aiff files. 48/24 in both cases. I was using 8.3 but upgraded to 8.3.1 to see if it got fixed. Running version 10.4 of BMD desktop. not sure if it's related to that or not.

I get three error messages when I try to run this program. I just downloaded it.
First I get an "unable to initialize effect audio and mixing system" error message
Then I get, una" unable to create index for editor slide files: to create the index launch the editor once from an account with administrator priverleges.
Then I get "Media will be unavailable in media directory
Can anyone help me with these?
I have the mp4 video(3840*2160), I dont know how to use AMA to edit them, I cannot improt them to my mc. what can I do for that?

I'm editing a movie in 23.976FPS. I need to deliver the final cut in 59.94 DF and the total length must be exactly 01;31;57;00 . We will do a 3:2 pulldown of the QuickTime once the grading is done.
I'm trying to figure out exactly how long must be my 23.976 edit to end up at 01;31;57;00 @ 59.94DF with the drop frame conversion.
If my calculations are correct, it should be 01:31:55:03 @ 23.976FPS (NDF) but I doubt my self.
Anyone can help or point me to an online pulldown calculator that actually works?

I'm having a trouble to import/ link with AMA / drag & drop Canon C300 Mark II .mxf file(s) to MC (8.4.4). Files are shot in 1080p resolution.
Installed this codec
and still MC tells me to use appropriate AMA Plug-in. There's some 3rd party software, that offers to convert Mark II files into somehting else that AVID understands, but since the material is shot with new Mark II C-Log 2 option, I really woud like to import it straight into Media Composer.
Old C300 Mark I files are working just great.
Has anyone bumped into same issue? Any ideas?

I am currently looking for options on media storage. I have had a Rourke Galaxy system for a number of years, but feel that it is nearing the end of the road. I would like to have a new storage system ready when this one dies.
I am looking for Fiber Channel storage and currently have about 30TB and hope to stay there or increase depending on cost.
My specs are below. Let me know if anyone has a good option that has worked well for them. I will need to setup as a RAID drive set.

I can not import audio tracks into my Protools software. Can anyone help?
