I'm doing a short film that was shot on the Arri Alexa. Since the film has already been shot I want to be as efficient with my time as possible. Since I want to save time does it make sense to skip Davinci till picture lock?
My idea is to AMA link the Original Camera Files in Avid, transcode to DNX 36, sync audio and cut away. Once picture is locked export an AAF to DaVinci, reconnect to the Original Camera Files and then color grade and transcode/export from Davinci.
This saves me from having to transcode all the Original Camera Files upfront and saving the transcoding of the frames in the cut at the end.
Thoughts??
Thank you in advance.
