Horizontal green lines at top of frame in export to OP1a (IMX 30)

I have finished editing an archive based project in SD, digitising material from Digi Beta at MPEG 30 MXF. All looks good until I export to XDCAM MXF OP1a (the specified format from the broadcaster). I can export to .MOV ok with no green lines showing.

I have tried re-digitising with VITC selected 'off' on the deck, and I have tried digitising at other resolutions - but in all cases the green lines appear if exported to OP1a.

I've seen a thread about this back in 2012 - but not solved at that time.

Any ideas anyone? Thanks.


2018.7 dongle activation in app manager not an option

Installed 2018.7 but dongle activation option is not showing up as a selection in the licensing section of app manager.  Also, in my account under products, my perpetual donlge updater file is only showing as 2018.5.  

 

I have two licenses, an annual and a perpetual.  While both show up under my account in tha app manager, I'm not seeing both under the licesning.

Assertion Failed Error - MC basically unusable

Just today I got this error and I now can't really do anything in Avid Media Composer without this error coming up. Anyone know the issue?

 

 

And if I click continue on this error, I get this message

 

Would love some help. I'm running MC 18.2 and my specs are below

Hi, I just did a reinstall of 2018.4. But the software is not recognizing the Nitris DX box.

It was working fine right before the update.

any suggestions?

Yet another Vlog L colour grading question...?

Hi,

I have been doing some "limitations" camera tests on the GH5 (i, best exposure, ii, heavily over-exposed, iii, heavily underexposed, and iv, exposing for chroma key), and I am flummoxed to see where the camera's Vlog picture style mode is superior to its own Natural mode.  I have tried all sorts of combinations correcting in MC (eg., contrast pull first, or the LUT (Vlog_to_V709_forV35_ver100 (3D)) first, or then adding further LUTs and colour corrections on top, etc.) and while I might say that dynamic range seems a touch better when shooting Vlog when correctly exposed, at the extremes of exposures the then correcting in MC, in my view, has the camera's Natural mode seem just a tiny bit better. 

Is there a trick I am missing?  What conclusions should I infer from all this?  Is there another LUT to use that will superbly freshen up the footage without any filter look (which I am not keen on)?

FX Icons disappeared from Sequence Clips

Hey,

I'm working on the latest version of MC FYI but I'm working on a stills intensive project with a lot of moves but for some reason today all of my effects icons disappeared from the clips in the sequences. The effects are still there, I can alter them but can't quickly see if a clip has an effect. I've restarted avid, my system, made new sequences and nada.

Has anyone dealt with this nonsense before and if so does anyone have a solution?

set Audio Follow Video to default?

Every time I open a project with group clips I turn Audio Follow Video on.  (Because it is off by default.)  Is there a way to make it "on" by a default?

Clip thumbnails won't show up in source browser

Anyone know why clip thumbnails from an SD card wont show up in the source browser? The media is not the card...it just shows up in two parts..an MXF and an XML...i can bring the MXFs into my bin just fine and edit...but i can't preview the clips in the source broswer...this is not helpful when i need to only pick out certain clips...any ideas? Thanks

Mediacomposer 2018.1 can't save title tool and Marquee

Hi,

two avid mediacomposer pc with v 2018.1  with same problem. Since this version it's impossible to create title, not with title tool and not with marquee. Both tools can't save to bin successfully. Title tool simple empty the title windows, I lose my create title. With marquee tools I can save local in the tool, but I can't save to bin. 

I reinstalled v8.10, this version works without problems.

Can't import or quit application on 8.6.3

Hi,

 

Since I have updated to 8.6.3 I have a problem when I'am opening my projet :

Exception: VolListElement::IsVolWriteable() Bad path terminator

 

I have the same if I try to import media or if I just quit the application.

Any ideas?

Avid Unity Media Engine

 I have seen some great deals on these on ebay in terms of hardware, but I had a couple questions about these:

1. Im sure Unity software is required and I have seen some various LanShare software on ebay, can you still get Unity Software from Avid?

2. It seems these also had a Dongle. (saw a few on ebay) Without a Dongle, is the Unity pretty much useless other than using it as an oversized NAS?

Needing Unity MN v5.4 client software for windows

We have replaced some of our workstations and realized that Avid no longer has the Avid Unity MediaNetwork v5.4 client software for Windows on their download page. I checked all my hard drives and thumbdrives and have everything but the Unity client. I have contacted Avid and they say they don't have it. I have v5.1 from our original CD's when we bought the Unity but that doesn't seem to work with Windows 10. I am hoping that someone out there still has vers 5.4 or Ver 5.3. We would really appreciate any help!

Does there exist a definitive list of which audio plugins will work inside Media Composer. All the lists I find just seem to list ProTools compatible ones.

AMA Relink Question

Hello,

I am new to working wih Interplay / Nexis, and found re-linking to be different than on a stand-alone system.

I'd like to link to the clips with AMA, and then transcode them to DNxHR LB for editing. I figured the DNxHR will edit smoother than the AMA, and I need to transcode for the producers in Media Central. And I need to stay in 4K so the producers can reposition and resize the shots in the final HD master.

After editing, I'd like to relink back to the full resolution AMA clips for color grading and final transcode to HD. In a quick test today, I could not force the edited timeline back to the AMA clips.  I don't know if deleting ( or hiding ) the DNxHR LB footage would make the relink work, but that is what I would do if this were a stand alone system.  But that is problematic with Interplay.

Any suggestions to make this process work? Thank you.

Matte Effect Removal Changed In 2018.* Please Restore

   Not sure if this is a feature request or a bug, but when you delete a matte key off of a clip with alpha in 2018 (tested in 2018.7 & 2018.8) It now retains the matte layer and not the fill layer. This behaviour has been changed from what it used to be in 8.9.

 

Further information that may be pertainent. If you use Avid 8.9 to cut in the clip with alpha. It will retain the Fill layer when deleting the Matte Key. This is true if you delete the matte key on a 2018.* system or on a 8.9 system.

Conversly if you cut in the clip with alpha using a 2018.* system. It will retain the Matte layer if you delete the Matte key using a 8.9 system or a 2018.* system.

 

It would be preferable if the delete effect command on a clip with alpha retained the fill layer. This is something we use a lot when creating playback reels for live shows. Alternatively if there was an option within the matte key to display the fill layer that would also work.

 

Import stereo audio and modify tracks

Working on a film project where the rooms are set up as 3.1 audio so the outboard mixer controls where audio goes. It's set up so channels 1-4 go to the center channel speaker. So if I import a stereo audio clip and play it in the source monitor the audio comes out the center channel only and it's overmodulating from folding the tracks down on the outboard mixer. What I want to do is import the audio with the tracks set to 9&10 because those go to the stereo left and right speakers in the room. I've tried importing then modifying the tracks under "modify clip / set tracks" but the clip must be unlinked to do this modification, and once the modification is made it refuses to relnk. It looks like Avid is trying to add this feature - the "options" that come up when you select import then the audio tab has the same options as "set tracks" - I'm able to select tracks 9&10 but upon import they are still 1&2. I imagine there is a way to convert the files before importing but obviously would be great if this was done on import. Our workaround is to cut audio in to a sequence to a stereo track that is mapped to 9&10, but that's just a temporary fix that doesn't help much. I tend to just deal with the center channel and the distortion to find the part of the clip I want and cut it in, but would be much better to figure this out. Much thanks in advance!

Audio dissolves won't render version 2018.7

Extremely frustrated right now with Avid. Trying to plow through this project but no matter what I do the audio fades/dissolves refuse to render. Tried rendering with video, tried restarting, tried every render option, tried removing plugins, tried copy/pasting audio into new timeline, still no rendering. Even tried mixing down audio and the mixdowns have all of the *** pops in there from the fades not rendering. The only work-around I have found is re-applying the dissolves and chosing "add & render". But this is aHUGE pain in the butt when you have a really complex sequence that you are constnatly tweaking small audio edits on, it's turning into a huge time vaccuum and making me consider switching platforms just to finish this job.

XDCAM MXF OP1A NOT AVAILABLE IN RELEASE 2018.8

Operating system: Mac OS Hight Sierra / 10.13.5

I just installed the latest version of Avid Media Composer and XDCAM MXF OP1A exporting is not available. Without this option we can't delivery our tv commercial becaus is the only way the broadcasters accept the closed caption files.

Other users have the same probleme?
