Can't activate and download Pro Tools
First of: Avids website is very confusing and somewhat 'not userfriendly'.
BUT. I bought an activation code for Pro Tools. On this CARD it says I have to go to avid.com/activationcard. When I do that, I enter my code and then it accepts it and it writes:
Please enter the Renewal Code listed here in the “Renew Support” Option of your Perpetual Product located in the Products and Subscriptions page. So when I click on the link, it says I have no products. How come? I just activated it so I can download it? I got the card in my mail at 10.00 am, and it's been almost 4 hours of trying. Now I decided to ask in here... What can I do? It is a card that says 'Pro Tools Activation Card'. And on the back it says 'The Activation for your Pro Tools Annual Subscription Renewails'. And it says I have to go to avid.com/activationcard to get startet. I bought it from a company in Denmark and they said that the card is the program Pro Tools + 1 year, which is what I bought.
Anyone care to help?

AMPIPluginDSM.avx slow startup
So, when I start up Media Composer it hangs like 2-3 mins on start up - Initializing AMPIPluginDSM.avx.
I've read online some people have simply deleted it.
Okay..except I can't find it.
(supposed to be in HD-Library-Avid ... but nope)
Where is it? Why does it exist?
Can I live without it?

Can't install MC First, Download corrupted
So, I've been pulling the remains of my hair out for hours about this.
I wanted to give Avid MC First a go tonight, so I signed up, recieved my downloading link and downloaded the install package. No problem so far. When I tried to extract the files using WinRAR, half of them were reported as damaged. I didn't think that much of it. The browser I was using was Brave, and Brave sometimes drops downloads. So I downloaded it again using Chrome. Tried to unpack it, same problem. I downloaded it a third time, and tried again. Still full of apparently broken files. I tried unpacking the archives with Windows Explorer. Same problem.
I tried downloading it elsewhere and found an installer on a third party website. Downloaded it via that installer, still didn't install, but at least I got the Application Manager going. So I tried installing it that way. I downloaded it with the Application manager, and it said it couldn't be installed with no further explanation. I tried again, and it still didn't work, this time it was a "Download Error".
So yeah. I really don't know what else I can do at this point. I'm using a Windows PC with Windows 7 Professional, 64 Bit, but since I tried three different downloading methods and I didn't even get to the installation process proper I assume the problem lies elsewhere.
Any help would be appreciated.

Independent Resolutions

With Premiere Pro CC 2018, when you create a new project, each timeline that is created has its own format settings.
For example:
Premiere Project File.prproj
2 timelines - Timeline #1 is 1080i; Timeline #2 is UHD 23.98p

In Avid, you cannot do this. When you create a new project, you are forced immediately to choose your format. So each timeline that you create will always be the exact same format (i.e. 1080i).
I wonder if Avid can implement independent resolution timelines, where instead of setting the format in the project-level, you set it timeline-level.
This would be a huge timesaver for me Avid-wise : many times I get media in different formats. I understand that you can avoid this by using Avid's converters.

Avid Media Composer QuickTime_OPClient.avx Issue
Starting today I have had the following error message pop during the loading of Avid MC 2018.5 running on Win7 with QT ver 7.7.9 installed... This is a new problem and everything was otherwise functioning properly as of yesterday.
ERROR MSG as follows:
"QuickTime is not intalled on this system. It is strongly recommended you install the latest version. Some effects will not function properly without it."
Also in the notification area on Avid Load/Splash Screen in White area the following is being indicated.
Reloading plugin QuickTime_OPClient.avx
I have both uninstalled and reinstalled Qucktime 7.7.9 and Media Composer 2018.5 to no avail... Problem persists...
Any help would be appreciated

MC 1st Upate 2018.7 will not complete installation
This is the 1st time I've seen this issue, as I have completed all previous updates. All items appear to download successfully. The Installer itself updates but the main program portion goes into the "spin cycle" and never leaves. On the 3rd attempt I let the installer run all night - it still didn't work.
I'm still able to run the installed version (2018.5).
Now, every time I boot up I get a message that the update is awaiting installation (which of course never works).
Any ideas?

Clear foreign config on Raid harddrives
I having trouble clearing foreign config on new raid harddrives on ISIS 5000. In Avid ISIS Storage Manager 4.7.4.15820, I login using our custom password, go into advance, choose clear foreign config. When retyping our costum password it shows up an error:
"Error: Failed clearing foreign configs
Password check failed"
The default and our custom password does not work. I beginning to think that the web browser blocks the command, since it complains about certification. Any thoughts?

2018.7.1 Missing Blue position bar - SOLVED??
Just installed 2018.7.1 on an old Mac tower 3.1 with El Cap.
Was making my new user and realized I did not have a Blue Postion Bar in the timeline. I checked all the usual suspects and the selections that should control this are checked.
Anyone else? Did something move? Is this a byproduct of Live Timeline?

background queue not updating in safari
Is there a reason that Safari will not show an updating queue progress bar (unless I always hit reload) yet other browsers have no issue with this?
This is an old issue. I've noticed this for many a version now. Not a big crisis. Just a little annoying that it simply stopped doing it.
Anyone know?

Mezzo backup software
Years ago i backed up my media to DLT tape using backup software from Mezzo technologies called Mezzo. a couple of years ago I changed my backup method but now i need to get some old media off the DLT tape. Mezzo used a type of copy protection call challenge response - which the program produced a string of letters that you send back to the company and you get a response to unlock the software. The problem is you needed to do this EVERY SIX MONTHS. Now Mezzo technologies went out of business and i cannot get a new response so i cannot use the program. Does anyone know of any software that can read these DLT tapes?

Dupe detection error with MC 2018.7.1
Hi folks,
yesterday I discovered a persistant error, which is replicable in any project or timeline loaded.
As soon as I activate the dupe detection in timeline's fast menu, the timeline disappears in a strange manner and an error alert pops up. (screenshot)
I then have to find the fast menu button "bling flying" to deactivate the feature. After that everything works normally...
So dupe detection isn't working at all with this version of MC! :(

Uninstalling sony plug-ins
Hello,
I got a message from avid about uninstalling the old AVCHD plugins and download the latest ones.
I read a few instructions on forums and in the installer guide, and i finally found out that a folder named xdsDeck need to be deleted.
I cant fint any folder named xdsDeck on AVX2_Plug-Ins>AMA... Or anywhere else...
can someone please help me to find out which folders,files, do i need to delete?
*I tryed reinstall through Programms And Softwares on Control Panel, but it didnwt really work.

Pro Tools Express download

i still have the auth code and ilok for Pro Tools Express. On your website you say ill find the download file on this website http://www.inmusicbrands.com/ptex. There they say that Pro Tools express is no longer offered by you and replaced by Pro Tools First. I tried Pro Tools First, but there is some plug-ins missing compared to Pro Tools Express. can i still get the file for Pro tools express somewhere and is it working on win10?

Load group clips into timeline view
Hello
I am just getting back into the Avid world, and although a lot is coming back to me, I do have a question about multicam editing. I am using MC 2018.5, but currently on the trial month. I just saw footage from the Avid team at NAB 2018, and he was able to load his grouped clips into timeline view and edit the group like a sequence. This is a huge feature that I have been waiting for!! However, when I drag my grouped to the record monitor, I get an error message saying that only sequences can be loaded in the record monitor. Is this feature not in this version? I saw that 2018.7 is out, or is it not a feature in the trial version (though that would be silly), or am I just missing a setting somewhere?

I had to move to a new laptop. Old one was stolen.
I set up new computer with timemachine backup from old computer.
I now cannot get media composer first to launch. I keep getting this error message.

AJA IO Express Driver for 8.4.5 ?
Is anyone running 8.4.5 on a Z620 with an AJA IO Express?
I've tried all the available AJA Drivers and all suffer from problems: randomly jittery playback, AVID hanging when you leaave and return to the application and lag response when jumping up and down the timeline.
There are no AVID error messages.
Everything is ok in Software only.
I've tried two boxes and two cards, all with the same results.
If anyone has stable playback with any AJA drivers on 8.4.5, please let me know.

Media not supported by Interplay
I got the following error message in Media Composer during the Check In process.
Is it because of media greater than HD? I did have some of that, in DNxHR codec, in my Sequence. The Sequence & Project were HD.
Media not supported because the VCID is dynamic.
