I am using AMA and would like to do a simple replace of a clip. Everything about the clip is the same, it is just a graded a grade version from Davinci Resolve. "Relink" does not work, I have spent hours trying to debug with Avid tech support. Even the tech support with all their training struggle with Relink, constantly changing options and getting confused. They do not seem to have a logical or reliable way to make Relink work — it is trial and error.
Is there a simple way to "replace" a clip like in Davinci Resolve or Premiere?

I'm running out of options to try to troubleshoot a friend's MC setup so posting here for some possible knowledge of the group. She's got MC 2020.12 installed on a refurbished HP Z840, running the following config (which AFAIK is fully Avid Qualified):
Like i said in the subject line, Media Composer keeps crashing at least once an hour and it looks like the crashes are related to realtime fx (resizes, titles, cc fx, simple stuff). Since the Decklink Studio 2 is not the newest, I thought that might be the culprit but turning off the hardware had no effect on the issue at hand.
I really don't know where to look any more so all ideas about possible causes are greatly appreciated.

We have written our own custom CloudUX integration which we are updating quite frequently. We have noticed that Chrome is caching quite aggressively, so we must clear all site data on the clients to be sure that users are looking at the latest version of our app.
Is there a way to invalidate the browser cache by adding a timestamp or randomized number to our app after deploying a new version? The goal is to be able to deploy a new version without having to ask all users to clear their local browser cache.
Hope anyone can shine a light on this.

when I export an MP4-File via the MP4-Export (UME) the file is not playable in the QT7-Player.
This seems to be a problem with the standard H264-Setting where you can choose your bitrate by yourself. We are used to export a 720p file with 5mbit/s, so we wanted to use this possibility. But opening the exported file in the old QT7 results in a "Bad/Invalid Movie-Atom" error. Now you can say the old Player is outdated but many clients and programs rely on the old Player(-engine).
I testetd a bit and the other both settings (H264 HQ and H264 HQ+) are fine.
Can anybody confirm this?

Dear Avid Community,
For at least 5 years now, I've noticed that the old way of rebuilding the database files no longer works 99.9% of the time. Before you would go into the folder within Avid MediaFiles and just delete the 2 database files. Then when you relaunch the Avid application, it would automatically rebuild them.
Can someone please explain how you would (in the current version of Avid - 2018.2) force Avid to rebuild them?

I’ve been using Media Composer 6 for the last eight years or so. As a hobbyist it
works really well for my needs, but recently I have considered upgrading and I
downloaded the latest version of MC to
trial.
I was unable to begin my trial as MC would not import the clips I attempted to
import.
Is this because there are codecs I need to download, or is there another reason MC
doesn’t accept these clips?
I’m also trialling Vegas Pro, and it imports the clips instantly.

Have a project where we will have some media from CCTV cams, and the media from here have not so high bitrate. (h264 avi's in some strange format that Avid not accept, so I need to convert it with handbrake)
we will have multicams with up to 9 streams, so I assume dnx is to prefer here. As this media have so low quality from the beginning, can I transcode this to dnx36 and skip hires it in the end?

I just updated to MC First 2021.2 and downloaded and installed the latest version of New Blue Titler Pro 7 Express v7.3 but I don't see it anywhere in the Avid. How do I access it? Also in the New Blue FX App Manager it shows my current version of Prime as 5.0.1. But in the Avid Link it shows New Blue Prime v1.0.0 and there is an install button next to it. Just based on the version number this looks like I would be going backward if I installed it so why is there an install button available? Thanks--

My co editor is using vid 2020 on mac. He has trouble in editing when he uses the segment tool. an error message is popping up.
it also happens sometimes in trim mode as well.
Has anyone encountered this bug?

I have the 5.1 files from the audio post house.
I have never done a 5.1 show before.
Is there a how-to for this? What tracks go where.
Do I have to pan anything, or just lay them on mono tracks as they are.
And, without a 5.1 system, how do i check them?
Any help, do's or don't's appreciated.

Hi Folks,
Usually, I work in a 2 screen set up. Meaning I work with 2 monitors - one monitor has my bins, project, timeline and composer - the other monitor is for FULLSCREEN video. The FULLSCREEN needs to be set to "moncon off" in the console otherwise the image is milky.
Because of the pandemic I am working at home using JUMPDESKTOP. When I engage "moncon off" my FULLSCREEN freezes so I'm forced to work with a milky image in FULLSCREEN.
Anyone have any ideas? Milky image is a drag.

If the timeline has a clip note with carriage returns, and clip notes are displayed in the timeline (hamburger menu clip text option), and a timeline search is done forward or backward with spaces in the search term ("adv "), then Avid will crash. I think those are the relevant parameters to achieve a crash.
I'm finding Titler plus to be practically unusable. There are a number of issues that are making my work much more difficult than it needs to be.
- My titler mini window disappears as soon as I click on my canvas, moving behind my panels which wouldn't be so bad with a new workspace but I seem to be unable to switch between move and text mode.
- When I choose a selection and try to increase the size it does not do it 1 to 1 so it becomes squished and then I need to mannually fix it, also the placement and size that I'm viewing as a preview moves to a different location w/ this squeeze after applying the change
- I've yet to find a way to keyframe and animate my text without adding a 3d warp effect to it which is causing my system to crash and I'm definitely up to par with my workstation
- It's laggy overall when trying to select words/letters/sentences (you even see it in the video above) and is crashing consistently
Avid took the perfectly good title application and destroyed it with this new feature. Why could you not keep it the way it was before but add the 4k capabilities and put it inside media composer as opposed to being a separate app? I really really hate titler plus....
The propsed changes for MC 2020.12 that Marianna has outlined sound great, but there are still 2 features that are deal breakers for me that I haven't seen mentioned and they're fairly basic...
1. As far as I could find both in experimentation and searching online, there's no way to easily centre a text layer/box both vertically and horizontally in the screen. This is so standard and should be simple to implement, no? Centre in canvas/screen vertically and horizontally instead of having to eyeball it or use the grid and try and figure it out.
2. Not being able to see all fonts or sub-styles of fonts. This is a massive deal breaker for obviouis reasons. It was never problem in my experience in the past with the Title Tool, so why now? Can this please be fixed also in 2020.12? Or ASAP?
I REALLY hope these things can be implemented/fixed because without them, I'm having to do even super basic title work in After Effects and bring it in. And that's just not ok for an industry leading, profesional NLE. It would make me feel so much better about Avid which has been my exclusive NLE for 13 years.
I have a 2010 Mac Pro upgraded to 12 core.
1 Slot has a 3GB Radeon R9 280x, 1 Slot a USB 3.0 card, 1 Slot a PCI NVME Hard Drive, Last slot Fibre Channel card.
That maxes out my slots so I can't have the Nitris DX card anymore, even though I run Mojave and Media Composer 2021.
Could a 8GB Radeon RX 580 or 480 type card, run 2 Monitors and then also output out of its HDMI with AVID sending the signal there for full screen output to an HDTV for client monitoring? Or is that going to produce some lag vs how the Nitris DX (or even a decklink card) sends it through HDMI?
Just curious, right now I have no way to send to a client monitor, no more space for cards. But I need all the cards I have right now and anyways when I go to Catalina on the 2010 Mac Pro it won't run the Nitris DX anyways. Right now I run Mojave though so I'm fine.
Hi. So today I wanted to make some changes to a clip by going into "Source Settings." I hit right click over the clip, the window opens and all the settings seem to be just fine except... I can't get to the "Apply" option all the way at the bottom because the window is to big for my screen. I tried hovering the cursor all over the corners and lines of the window but no prompt for resizing. Is there any way to resize this window? Otherwise it seems I can't apply the modified settings to my clip. Brief specs: Macbook, 10.15.7, 13-inch screen and I am running Avid 2021 2.0, trial version. Please, help. Thank you.
I've a folder where I collect raw downloads from Getty etc. Today I downloaded four Getty clips (.mp4 all), used Source Browser/Transcode to import one of them, but am unable to do the same with the others because Source Browser simply cannot see the files. It can see what appeasr to be the vast majority of the foder contents, but these three latest Getty clips? Nope. Their filenames look completely standard, they don't begin witha space, etc
Thoughts?
