Have been trying to figure out the best workflow to edit avchd footage from Panasonic consumer cameras since version 6. Now I’m on version 8.4.4 and still no success. The test file is only 6 seconds (16.6MB), shot with an “unhacked” Panasonic GH2.
File Information:
00008.MTS
H.264 1,920 X 1,080
23.98 fps
AC3 Audio, 48,000 HZ Stereo (L,R)
Data Rate 21.08 Mb/second
Tried the Link to Media and then transcode method but when I open the Background Queue I can see that the job started but there is no more progress.
I don’t have any issues importing (or editing) the same file into Premiere Pro CS6, which used to be my preferred NLE. But now I want to focus on the AVID since I’m looking for gigs with the TV Networks here in Miami and that is what they use. The best workflow I’ve figured out so far is to transcode the avchd file to ProRes in Adobe Media Encoder first (5 seconds) and then Fast Import into Media Composer (2 seconds).
Anyone with a positive experience importing avhd.mts files from Panasonic consumer cameras?
