I'm working with some over-exposed skin tones that I have a decent solution for in After Effects, but would like to stay in Media Composer if possible. I found this on Creative Cow and it seems to work - the idea is that the blown out footage may still contain some good detail in the green channel. Here's the After Effects workflow using two layers of the footage: Bottom Layer - Channel > Channel Combiner > set from Green to Red. Top Layer Keying > Extract set to Red then adjust White Point, softness. Then Color Correct bottom layer using Exposure set to multiple channel mode. I'm wondering if I could re-create a similar workflow without leaving Avid.
I have BCC and Symphony Color Correction options.
Thanks!
