Using Media Composer 6.0.1, HP workstation, windows 7.
I would like to import 5184x3456 JPEG images (square pixels) from a canon 7D camera in to Avid at the full resolution. The project format is 1080i50 however I want the larger than raster format size so that full quality can be retained when pan and scanning around the image. I would prefer to simply zoom out on the overlarge image if it's necessary to see more rather than resizing on import.
I tried AMA linking to the raw image file in hopes it would be unchanged but when looking at the image in the source viewer it has been stretched to fit the 16:9 frame of the project rather than pillarboxing around the 1.5:1 aspect ratio of the original image. I have selected the resize to format raster option as temporary solution which has allowed me to retain the original aspect ratio within the 1920x1080 frame but from what I understand this is now a resized to standard HD image and not the original 5184x3456 resolution.
