I feel like this is a consistent problem on AVID, and I know this question has been asked before, but it feels like I've read every post on this error I could find and still not found a solution.
I'm the only AE for a doc, and my editor keeps running into the dreaded segmentation fault error on the main computer. It's a mac running Avid MC 8.5, Mac OSX Yosemite 10.10.5, with NVIDIA GeForce GT755M 1024MB graphics. From what I've found, there's no compatibility issue. To solve this problem, I've tried
- deleting and rebuilding databases
- deleting and rebuilding the Settings, Site Attributes and MCState files
- changing permissions on both the HD and the external drive
- repairing permissions on the HD
- moving footage from the HD to an external drive to maximize available drive space
It happens randomly, not in any particular sequence (so I can't target a corrupt file), and doesn't appear during playback, but as soon as any editing happens--even simple edits with no effects--the error can pop up and avid crashes.
Aside from uninstalling and reinstalling the software, is there something really obvious that I'm missing?
