Avid Media Composer and GoPro footage

Hello Everyone,

I am using Avid Media Composer version 8.4.2

I have made some beautiful motocross footage using GoPro 4 Silver.

The format of the video is: MP4 files in 1080p/59.94 encoded in AVC

The problem is the whatever I do with Avid Media Composer, I loose the quality on the video after export. What I have tried:

A. Imported footage as DNxHD 90 -> Edited -> Exported as QuickTime Movie with H.264 in Best quality -> lost saturation of colors and crisp of video

B. Linked the disk -> Transcoded into DNxHD 290 -> Exported as QuickTime Movie with H.264 in Best quality -> lost saturation of colors and crisp of video

C. Linked the disk -> Transcoded into DNxHD 290 -> Exported as DNxHD 220 1080i/59.94 -> lost saturation of colors and crisp of video

I also asked a friend to transcode the same file using several other tools to see what is the result. Results are:

1. Brosoft converter - quality loss

2. Sony Vegas - good results

3. GoPro studio - quality loss

4. Avidemux - good results (x264)

I believe it has something to do with H.264 implementation it uses.

I also attach the screenshot of difference I see:

I would like to use Avid Media Composer to edit my movies and not loose the quality of the video and need so fix or workaround for this.

Anyone has any ideas?
