Importing R3D Files with MC8 Issue

I'm trying to import native RED files into Media Composer 8. When I use the Source Browser to link the footage in an already created bin, it does nothing. Literally nothing. If I click to start a new bin it will create an empty bin, no clips. I've downloaded the latest RED AMA plugin (1.18). 

Every tutorial that shows how to import uses the now defunct "Link to AMA Volume" that doesn't exist anymore.

Any suggestions other than using RedCineX to conform?

Specs: 2013 MCP Retina, 16 GB memory, i7, Yosemite, NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M 2048 MB
