I'm new to captioning/subtitles in general, so this might be really simple, but I just don't know what I'm doing... 
Baiscally I am working on the translation of an earlier work, and the director/producer want's the subtitles burnin the film (as opposed to making a str for a dvd/bluray). I'm using aegisub to do the timing and sync of the subtitles, I my plan was to export a .stl file and bring it into mc's subcap effect.
However, when I import the stl, the import window tells me "42 caption(s) will be spliced in." My stl contains 420 captions... there's a 0 mising there. sure enough if I click import, the 42 captions import just fine. I'm guessing there's something wrong inside the stl file, that avid is not reading it right, but I don't know how to check/debug it...
any help/advice would be welcomed!
