I wish there was a button in the effect palette, that would allow you to decide, whether you want to use any effect on the selected track/layer only, or on all other tracks (under that effect, like usually) as well.
For example: You use the resize effect to push a picture to the left side. Usually all tracks under that picture would be affected too. A button/ check box that says "apply effect on this track only" would be enough to make things very easy. I know, this isn't the best example, since you could use the 3d warp effect in this case, but for lot's of other effects or transitions this option would be very helpful (or the color correction mode as well).
