Short Version:
I moved the media for a project to another drive. When I open up the project with the new drive, Avid says Media Offline for certain clips. When I do Get Info, I see it's pointing to media files on the original drive. If I plug in the original drive, Media Offline goes away. But I see a copy of these files on my new drive. Same size, same first few characters of file name.
I deleted the .mdb and .pmr files on the new drive. Avid rebuilt the indexes. Still no luck with those few clips. Any ideas?
LONG VERSION:
The media for my project are scattered between multiple drives. I wanted to consolidate everything related to this project (project files, media, etc) to one drive. Some of the media I moved by simply copying the MXF subfolders to the new drive (and renaming them to avoid conflicts), some by using the Media Tool to locate media for this project, and then consolidating. They were not directly consolidated to this new drive, but to some other temporary drive, and then copied over to a new subfolder (401) of Avid Mediafiles\MXF.
When I open the project off the new drive, a few clips are Offline. They happen to be one of the "consolidated" clips, but I don't know if that's relevant. If I plug in the original drive, MC instantly links them. As I said above, I have removed the .mdb and .pmr files on the new drive and had Avid rebuild the indexes. No luck.
Versions: The Media Tool | Consolidate operations were done on a MC 6.5 machine; I opened the project off the new drive with a MC 8.5 machine. But to rule out the version issue, I plugged the new drive into the old machine 6.5 (leaving out the original drives) and I see the same problem there.
