I have some relatively old archive footage that is a 720x489 mp4 format. This footage was ripped from a DVD using HandBrake. The clip is about 30 minutes long, and plays just fine directly from my computer. I wanted to cut it down to about 10 minutes. I started to import it into AVID and it was telling me that it was going to take over 3 hours. Thinking it was some sort of glitch, I decided to AMA link it instead. The AMA linked file was pretty pixelated in the source window, but I figured that it was just a problem playing back AMA and, in a hurry, cut my sequence using it. Now I am having trouble exporting the sequence without that pixelation. I have transcoded the clip by selecting the clip and the sequence, right clicking, and selecting consolidate/transcode, but the transcoded clips in the bin itself are severely pixelated as well.
I'm going to try just importing the clip itself directly into the bin, even if it takes a couple hours for whatever inexplicable reason. After I do this, what's the best way to link my cut sequence back to the imported, rather than the AMA linked copy of the file? Any other suggestions as to what might be happening?
